Isle of Wight Christmas

Winter has officially arrived on the Isle of Wight.  With the crisp cold mornings, frosty fields as far as the eye can see and evenings drawing in early, it’s definitely winter season and that means Christmas is well and truly on its way.

A perfect opportunity to have a cosy self-catering holiday break on the Isle of Wight over the festive period as it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some quality family time.

Make your way to the Isle of Wight for a relaxing Christmas escape and enjoy some beautiful countryside side views and fresh seaside air whilst soaking up the friendly, festive atmosphere.

A must do tradition is the wearing of seasonal knitwear (the more outrageous the Christmas jumper the better!) and visit one of the Island’s pubs and enjoy a glass of mulled wine by a roaring log fire.

If you’re a bit of a shopaholic, you should visit some of the Islands towns to spend some time exploring the boutique shops.  You’ll find plenty of knick-knacks and produce made on the Isle of Wight to take home to family and friends. As well as offering some beautiful handcrafted gifts, the Island is famed for its excellent local produce. Visit the Isle of Wight local farm shops and farmers’ markets to create your own special Christmas hamper filled with local cheese, garlic, tomatoes and mulled wine!

The Wight Holiday Company‘s favourite picks for a bit of Christmas shopping are Blue By The Sea in Yarmouth, The Garlic Farm in Newchurch and Oasis in Brading.

If you’d prefer to take it easy and enjoy the Island’s scenery at a slower pace, put on your walking shoes and warm jacket and take a bracing walk along the Isle of Wight coastal footpaths to enjoy the very best of the Isle of Wight’s landscape.
